Integrative manual therapy is a specialty that finds its roots in
osteopathic medicine. It is a form of both structural and functional
rehabilitation.
Its basic concept is that structure determines the functions of the
body and that no part of the body part functions independently.
Manual therapy addresses the entire body, locating the source of
pain and disability, not just the symptoms.
Essentially, If the soft tissue structures of the body dysfunction
and become chronic, the biomechanics of the body are compromised. As
tissues can no longer adapt, compensations will occur throughout all
the facial systems in the body. By locating
the causes of dysfunction and reopening the body's natural lines of
communication, through Gentle, non-invasive manual
manipulations, structural integrity and physiologic function can be
normalized to support the body's inherent ability to heal itself to
promote optimal health.
The field of Integrative Manual Therapy has enhanced recovery,
restoration of hope and regained purposeful, co-operative
participation in the healing process. Integrative Manual Therapy is
a systems approach for structural and functional rehabilitation.

The
body is always speaking volumes of information that provide
incredible diagnostic tools. Integrative Diagnostics focuses on
listening to that information. As a simple example each system in
the body has its own unique circadian rhythm–a more subtle version
of the way in which the vascular system presents a distinct
heartbeat for diagnosis. Integrative Manual Therapy practitioners
utilize advanced yet gentle palpation techniques to "listen" with
their hands to all of these rhythms. In doing so they determine
whether each system is in optimum flow or suffers anomalies and
impediments.
The
palpation techniques employed in Integrative Diagnostics also aid
the practitioner in revealing a great deal of information about the
health and functionality of all parts of the body including the
fascia lymphatic system organs muscles and bones.
Key
to these techniques is the fact that ailments appearing to be
obviously related to one area of the body are often actually
"referred" from other parts. This results from the body's tendency
to give priority to protecting the most important systems such as
the heart and brain. Integrative Diagnostics is extremely effective
at revealing how dysfunction in one body system can negatively
impact other systems.
The results of Integrative Diagnostics are evaluated along with
"functional medicine" test results, nutritional counseling and other
contemporary modalities. We combine all of this information to yield
an individualized treatment plan for each client.

A method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch,
strengthen, and balance and center the body. With systematic
practice of specific exercises
emphasizing proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic
alignment, and complete concentration on smooth, flowing movement,
you become acutely aware of how your body feels, where it is in
space, and how to control its movement.
By developing proper technique, you can actually re-train your body
to move in safer, more efficient patterns of motion – This, coupled
with
the
mind-body awareness promotes healing, stress- reduction, general
health and well-being. |

Pilates yields numerous benefits. Lung capacity and circulation,
posture, balance, and core strength are all heartily increased.
Bone density and joint health improve, and many experience
positive body awareness for the first time. Pilates teaches
balance and control of the body, and that capacity spills over
into other areas of one's life. It is a positive form of
movement-based exercise that truly can be tailored to any level
of not just fitness, but also of health. |

The use of stretching, strengthening, and specialized biomechanical
exercises to relieve chronic pain by creating new ways of resting,
holding and moving the human body. Neuromuscular reeducation
creates new pathways for the muscles and joints thereby increasing
mobility and promoting pain free, healthy tissues. It is used as an
adjunct to acupuncture and herbal therapies for acute and chronic
pain conditions. It is used, at times, to correct the cause of a
painful condition caused by clear biomechanical and postural
factors.
Treatment may include balance exercises such as one-legged standing
and the progressive use of a wobble board. Tandem exercises along
with a postural challenge may be utilized to evaluate stability. The
individual receiving treatment is encouraged to feel the correct
position of joints and to perceive the direction of movement of the
body extremities.

A
hands-on healing system based on channeling universal life force
energy. Reiki teaches that a life force energy is present in all
living things, and that a shortage or blockage of this energy
results in physical and mental imbalance and illness. Balance can be
restored by tapping into the universal source of life force energy.
Reiki therapy generally results in an overall relaxation response.
Although Reiki practitioners do not claim that Reiki can cure
specific illnesses, they believe that it promotes the body's ability
to heal itself and that it supports other treatment programs.
Recipients feel calm and centered, more energized, or both. Reiki
practitioners believe that the process also causes deeper healing on
emotional and spiritual levels.

A trigger point is an area within soft tissue structures that is
characterized by local tenderness and/or referred phenomena which
can include pain, tingling, numbness burning, or itching. An active
trigger point can cause immediate pain or prevent a muscle from

optimal muscular function during athletic performance. It is geared
to decrease the risk of injury as well as aid in the recovery of
acute and chronic injuries.

Laser therapy is super pulsed cold laser light that penetrates deep
into the tissues. Laser therapy is excellent for pain relief, both
acute and chronic, skin and wound care, and improving circulation
in the tissue. Used by Olympic athletes as well as chronic pain
sufferers, effects of laser include increased metabolic activity,
anti-inflammatory action, and increased vascular activity. Laser
therapy stimulates nerve function and reduces scar tissue formation.

Tui Na / Acupressure Massage |
Tui na is a bodywork therapy that was
developed in China over 2,000 years ago. Like Acupuncture, Tui na
works with the Qi (chi) energy of the patient to bring a balanced
state of health. But unlike, acupuncture, no needles are used. The
work is done entirely with the practitioner's hands to help increase
the beneficial flow of Qi through the patient's meridian system. Tui
Na can be used to treat chronic and acute injuries, as well as
respiratory, digestive and pediatric disorders.

Hawaiian people have been using basalt lava
stones since ancient times, for physical and spiritual healing and
well-being. Hawaiians have always felt closely connected to the
spirit of the land, and have traditionally revered rocks as ‘keepers
of the spirit’. Massage using hot stones, or ‘pohaku’ as they are
known in Hawaii, has been performed for hundreds of years to address
the many levels of healing needed to restore balance to the body,
mind and soul. The warmed pohaku is integrated into the strokes of
Swedish and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massages for deep relaxation and
release of muscle tension.
